Charities
At Deans, we take particular pleasure in working with charities and it’s become a specialism of our firm. We’re experts in preparing charity accounts, financial reporting for charities and independent examinations.
We also undertake trustee responsibilities in some instances, and advise trustees in others, ensuring charity accounts are properly prepared. They need to comply with charities legislation, the Companies Act and the charity statements of recommended practice (SORPs) for Scotland, or for England and Wales, as required.
Advice on and administration of Gift Aid for charities with retail operations is another area where our specialist advice is often invaluable. We’re also increasingly asked for advice in relation to VAT, agreeing partial exemption calculations and special schemes with the VAT office on behalf of clients.
Whether your charity is large or small, we have the experience and skills in preparing charity accounts to assist you in meeting your statutory responsibilities – and the expectations of stakeholders and donors.
Our charity accounting service includes…
- Trustee functions and advice
- Accounts prepared in line with the charity SORP
- Advice on Gift Aid
- Charity VAT exemptions
- Independent examinations (charity audit)
